West Lancashire Golf Club - An archetypical links course. West Lancashire Golf Club was formed in 1873 and proudly claims the distinction of being the pioneer of golf on the North West coast. Its course is the archetypal links. Golf commentator and former Ryder Cup player Peter Alliss, includes it among his top courses. The course is situated on natural seaside terrain, with immaculate greens making the historic West Lancashire links a must for all enthusiastic golfers. A pleasing feature on the course is that several elevated tees now provide stunning views over the river Mersey. Donald Steel, the well-known golf course architect said, "only in Britain can one sample the true flavour of seaside golf of which West Lancashire is the perfect example." |
