The Royal Liverpool

The Royal Liverpool - A great seaside championship course.

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club was established in 1869 with a nine-hole course laid out on a piece of rough ground known at "the Warren". This was extended to 18-holes in 1871, when the club was granted its 'Royal' honour.
The course is one of the great seaside championship courses - a stern test of both nerve and accuracy.
The Open Championship was held at this prestigious course on 10 occasions and the Amateur Championship has been held at Royal Liverpool a record 18 times.
The Club has also hosted the Walker Cup, Army Championship, the EGU Northern Counties Championship and the 75th anniversary match of the first international between GB&I and the United States and in 2000 hosted the British Amateur Championship.

The Open is due to return to Hoylake within the forseeable future following the signing of a three way agreement.
